FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the process of having a custom rod made?
When clients visit the studio or order online, we discuss their fishing skill and habits, types of fish targeted, and whether they fish from shore, a boat, or freshwater.
We guide you through the process of choosing the various components for your needs and personalization. Not only are decisions made for the type and color of a rod, various grips, guides, reels and thread colors, there are a variety of choices to further your own design — accents of colorful abalone, exotic woods, and personalized shrimshaw.
How long does the custom rod process take?
Depending on your choices, it can take sixteen or more hours to complete a rod. Our gift certificates are the perfect solution if you want to gift a rod to someone who deserves a heightened fishing experience.

Rod Care
Wash & Rinse with Dawn dish detergent and fresh water after each use.
To protect your rod from UV rays, polish your rod with a Good quality liquid car wax (i.e. Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax).
For the grip down to the butt, I recommend a liquid back to black polish. This works well with Eva, Carbon fiber and Cork. Buff with a microfiber cloth.
Never leave your rod on your roof rack or your boat for an extended period of time.
